2026 Psycho 48 Race Report (2/3) Started the race ok … was able to hold pace as planned … ok a bit higher than initially planned but lack of experience made me ride it based on feeling, so I turned off most data on bike computer screen. One lap is about 35 miles. My plan was to do 3 laps before a short stop for drinking and food supply. Crazy to me and sign I started a bit fast was that my first 105 miles have been about 4.5 hours). Not smart but I did not pay attention on data that much. Turned out I did 6 laps before my first stop since I had enough supplies on board. Did ok for the first 5 laps. Lap 6 was a bit odd. Had some seriously bad noise and needed to decide to stop right away or make it to my van for better tools. Checked a bit and realized the noise only happened when pushing. Wheels spinning was noise free. I kept going to my van. Once there I checked and noticed something moved inside and I had to reorganize things and make sure nothing getting close to the chain. Still felt ok and thought to switch to 3 lap stopping schedule. Also changed the man battery for light system and phone. And stocked the velomobile with supply I need for 3-4 laps. Started again and was all cool. However, I noticed power issues and minor pain in left thigh muscle. Adjusted my power inputs to avoid the pain. Kept eating a bit carbs every other lap (as I started that schedule from beginning) and had some water mixed with Gatorlyte (half and half) and one can of soda per lap. Looks like that worked ok. After two more laps I had a bit of an issue when my bike computer shut down. I stopped to avoid losing miles even I had a backup. Funny as is the battery was empty. Even when I checked at the stop it showed full power available. A faulty info caused the battery to drain completely. No big deal I had a small battery to charge the bike computer. BTW – big thanks to the racer who ask if I need help. Not sure who it was but I was very thankful that we have great people asking. I was able to keep going again. Unfortunate pain was back more in left thigh muscle. And sadly, as it sometimes is my option to adjust power inputs did not work as expected.
